Artist's profile:
I initially trained in Graphic Design at the University of Ulster which led to work in the printing industry. Life choices led to various careers and experiences but my faithful sketch books were always close at hand to capture ideas and journeys.
It wasn’t until later in life I discovered stained glass as an art form at the Glasgow School of Art and my passion for this medium began. After completing a very enjoyable and informative two year HND in Art Glass Design and Production at City of Glasgow College, I joined the Scottish Glass Studio where I have found working amongst other artists has been a wholly positive experience, being able to bounce ideas and filling gaps in my knowledge has been invaluable in developing as an artist.
Glass is a very exciting medium to work with and the potential for the development of different artistic styles and applications has boundless possibilities. My main interest is drawing and painting on glass, experimenting with how light and glass interact with each other. In an age when we live with back lit LED screens it is interesting to compare the similarities with this ancient art form.
